4. How did it feel to be asked back to join Class?
"When "Class" appeared I joked with my Agent that they really needed the headmaster as a bridge to connect the worlds. Then from no where the part came up. I was very excited and thought all my Christmas' had come at once ... then I read my death." 5. How did it feel when your character died in Class? "But if you have to go, being skinned by a dragon is not so bad as an exit. But I was gutted, literally." 6. What has been your favourite part to play and why? "My other favourite part has to be in Sharpe another dream job for me being an avid historian. To ride horses and get the girl at the end it was like being a child again playing soldiers. A lot of hard work too, I don't recommend wool clothing and a leather mask in Turkish sun !" 7. What are you currently working on? "At present I'm just about to start a play at the Almeida in London called Albion" 8. Any future plans? "For the future ...I live in hope for some more historical swash and buckle while I can still get on a horse. Feel free to write in and plead my case." We would like to thank Nigel Betts for taking the time to speak to us! We are really great-full! Thank You! Interviewed in August 2017. |
1. How did you get the part of Mr Armitage in Doctor who?
"I auditioned like hundreds of actors , hoping to fulfil their childhood dream of being in Dr Who. I was born 15th Oct 1963 so we are the same age." 2.What was it like joining Doctor who? "It was very exciting being part of the project , to be there at the beginning of a new Doctor." 3. Do you have any memorable stories from being on set? "Peter was incredibly generous , he was warm and welcoming to all new people joining, even if only fleetingly. He made you feel part of it all. Quite a job when he himself had all that to remember and carry as the Dr. I'd worked with Jenna on Emmerdale , she was incredibly welcoming also . There is just a great feeling working on that show." |
