6. What was it like going to your first convention and meeting your fans?
"Was a bit unnerving at first but very quickly you realize, you know we're all people. Those events are just about having fun—and they are fun!" 7. Doctor Who the movie is really popular in the UK, will you ever do any conventions in the UK? "Probably 1 of every 3 or 4 events I've ever attended have been in the U.K. The most memorable probably was the Dr Who 50th Anniversary celebration at BBC—nearly every companion from the entire history of the show (who was still around at the time) was there. And they had TARDIS cake! LOL!" 8. What has been your favourite part to play? . "Ever? Probably Chang Lee! 9. What are you currently working on? "Just did an episode of "Travellers", another time-travel sci-fi thing. Also did a movie called Birth of the Dragon about Bruce Lee. Small parts in both but fun, and good peeps!" 10. Any future plans? "I work in the tech industry and have a family, so most future plans have to do with building the startup at which I work, and raising my kids. My five-year goal is to use data science to make an impact in preventative medicine, health and wellness" We would like to Thank Yee Je Tso for taking the time to speak to us! We really appreciate it! Interviewed in August 2017 |
1. Did you watch any Doctor Who before you stared in the movie?
"I was a "latch key kid" which meant my parents worked late and I let myself in after school and pretty much watched TV until they got home at 11pm when I pretended to be asleep LOL! So yea Dr Who was one of many many shows I watched but honestly I can't remember the plot lines in any of them..." 2. How Did you get the part of Chang Lee in Doctor Who? "Multiple auditions...there's an interesting parable in my book Time and Spaces about timeliness, that comes from my Dr Who casting experience" 3. Do you have any memorable stories from being on set? "Yea! Many! But it's hard to pick a favourite for an interview...there's a few in the book. Probably the most memorable is when I fell in the water shooting the final scene (with the fireworks)" 4. How did it feel when it was announced that it would not be coming back for a full series? "Well one always hopes, but in the film and TV industry you can't take these things too seriously or personally." 5. Would you come back to Doctor Who if asked? "Well it's been fantastic working on the Big Finish audios, so yea! For sure!!" |
